Can Someone Find Out My Address From My IP Address?

Just about everyone who is familiar with computers and the internet has Streamyx least heard of an IP streamyx business package and perhaps Streamyx worry that anyone can find out tmnet streamyx self information, like streamyx zone physical address, using your IP address, which is posted on every email or other direct online communication you make. While this is a very natural concern, and there is some truth to this idea, this is not a major security issue.

Your IP address is a sequence of numbers specific to your personal computer that helps to identify and track your online history. A large part of this technology is used to help you create online histories and bookmarks, but it is also the primary piece of information used to identify you on the internet. Everyone who gets an email sent from your computer has your IP address, but the question is how they use this information.

IP addresses are buried within emails, so unless the person suspects the legitimacy of your letter, they will have no reason to even look at this data. Of course, if you are sending out a large amount of spam and someone happens to check their email's trace route, they will probably find your email address as well. net streamyx combo IP address can't really tell someone anything in itself, but email addresses Streamyx specifically, reverse email searches, can often reveal more about a person.

Using a reverse email search, someone can sometimes get another user's address, but this streamyx combo largely on the broadband vs streamyx of email server and the person themselves. Internet service servers are more likely to have this information, because your service address is part of how the company identifies you.

However, even internet-based email providers might list this data in their directory if you provided it when registering for the account. While a reverse email search can provide a lot of data, the account holder determines how much information is available.

Fiber Optic Network Technology Using Dense Wave Division Multiplexing

Businesses depend upon their networks as the lifeblood of day-to-day operations. Bottlenecks in data communication mean lost time and lost time translates to a loss in revenue. It is essential for companies to stay up to date with the best technologies Streamyx keep the network agen streamyx at an optimum level.

Information sharing has permeated society at every level, simultaneously straining the backbones on which the global network was built. Understanding the latest innovations is key for any business looking to accelerate past the competition.

The explosive growth of voice and data transmission flowing over the Internet Protocol (IP) has been largely responsible for straining back-haul network bandwidth. Some ISPs are reporting that bandwidth demand on their backbone connections is doubling approximately every 8 to 14 months in response to ever-increasing Internet traffic.

The Internet backbone must further deal with the increasingly complex makeup of the traffic itself. Multiple data protocols must be transmitted, including circuit-based communications such as fax or TDM voice, IP packets or even packet-switching protocols and frame relay.

Faced with these concerns, Internet carriers traditionally were forced to lay additional fiber optic cabling to accommodate additional demand for bandwidth. However, at a minimum starting cost of $70,000 USD per mile, the associated costs are prohibitive in most situations except for the highest-level backbone connections.

Need always leads to innovation. The development of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) is a key innovation that allows for more bandwidth without installing additional, cost-prohibitive cabling. The concept is easy to understand: Increase the number of wavelengths that can be transmitted on a fiber. Fiber optic cabling uses lasers for transmission through the glass medium.

Previously, these transmissions were carried out at a single frequency. By simultaneously transmitting data at different frequencies or different light colors, the signal is multiplexed. This action effectively increases fiber optic cable capacity by a factor between 16 and 32.

Since the introduction of fiber optic cabling, Streamyx (Synchronous Optical Network) has been the standard communication protocol in North America. SONET works by taking network signals and multiplexing them into a single wavelength to be transmitted over fiber. Counting on a single light wave to carry all the data drastically limits the capacity of the protocol.

SONET transports TDM data over the optical medium. Further inefficiency is created by current TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) technology. TDM was initially developed by phone companies to maximize the amount of voice data that can be transmitted over a medium.

TDM works by increasing capacity of the backbone link by collecting bits of raw data from multiple sources and multiplexing them at the higher transmission rate. TDM reserves time slots in the process to transmit the multiple sources in round-robin order. However, the proliferation of other data formats not based on circuits such as IP and cell-based transmissions forces TDM to deal with formats for which it was not designed. For example, Ethernet transmissions over SONET result in wasted bandwidth of up to 80% in a 10 Base-T connection.

TDM was never designed to handle anything other than voice data. Where SONET relies on TDM to transmit data for which it was not designed, drastic deficiencies occur.

Here are some key benefits of DWDM technology over SONET:

?Transparency - Operating at the primary layer of network architecture with raw data bits and streams, DWDM is able to support TDM and any other data format such as Ethernet, ATM, Fibre Channel or ESCON.

?Scalability - DWDM utilizes "dark fiber" or bandwidth otherwise wasted by inefficient transmission protocols like SONET for an instant boost.

?Dynamic provisioning - Eliminating time slots for data transmission allows for connections to be provided dynamically at a much higher rate. ?Reduced need for regenerators - Transmitting multiple signals over a single fiber decreases the need for additional expensive equipment otherwise needed to re-amplify and de-multiplex signals over multiple fibers.

Four important questions readers should ask themselves:

1. Are you experiencing bottlenecks in your fiber optic network?

2. Does your network continuously transmit multiple data formats?

3. Are you looking for a simple, yet highly effective technology to gain a competitive edge?

4. What is keeping your business from transitioning to DWDM on the back-haul networks across the enterprise? DWDM technology dramatically increases transmission capacity while simplifying scalability concerns at the same time. The primary requirement is installing higher transmission capacity at one end of the fiber optic cabling.

DWDM drastically reduces signal congestion created by amplifiers and regenerators. High-capacity network transmissions around the business can be conducted without some of this equipment when DWDM is implemented.

DWDM is a smart strategy for a highly optimized optical network. Since the sharing of information is the lifeblood of any business, the network must have the highest level of availability, and downtime must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Backups performed in real-time and decentralized processing are essential to keeping mission-critical applications online, as are parallel processing and a comprehensive disaster recovery plan. The common theme among these best practices is the requirement for a network of the highest quality, efficiency and reliability.

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing is a smart alternative to traditional Time Division Multiplexing. Know what your options are now and consider the benefits as you expand business operations.

What Is A Tier 1 Bandwidth Backbone Provider?

One could say that the phrases "Tier I" and "backbone provider" are streamyx settings bit redundant; others might say that they comfortably go together (like "ice cold Coke"). the functional contrast should be between a Tier I provider (e.g. AT&T, MCI, Sprint, Savvis/C&W, Global Crossing, Qwest, Level 3) and companies that are not Tier I providers -- who themselves have to buy bandwidth from Tier I providers.

Best example would be a local Internet provider offering T1 or DS3 service in a regional area: they might have www tm net my streamyx own facilities interconnecting different serving offices in a region, Streamyx they would have to send the traffic to a Tier I provider Streamyx the traffic goes outside their region. The Tier II provider makes money by buying a fixed amount of bandwidth, and selling it to many subscribers. The company must decide on what level of contention their customers must be exposed to. If you take a look at the W(wireless) ISP forum in BBR Reports you will see several threads from time to time discussing something like "how many customers will fit on a T1." Different providers will have different philosophies about how much to oversubscribe their network. What is true in the WISP world is also true in the cable internet world, and is also in the Tier II world. Think of it this way: if a local Tier II provider like "X-Com" (made up name) sells a T1 service to a new customer, will they add incrementally to their wholesale bandwidth purchase? No. But if Sprint sells a T1, their customer will get a dedicated port onto Sprint's backbone network at full speed with no contention.

Generally, there will be a price advantage of using a Tier II provider compared to a Tier I provider, as Tier II providers undercut the Tier I pricing and can afford to do so as they are oversubscribing their network facilities.

Tier II providers can be excellent source of inexpensive bandwidth if your network needs can absorb occasional delays or added latency (I'm not talking outages) -- if it's not mission critical or real time stuff, or if you're not yourself reselling the bandwidth.

Others might have other thoughts....

Bottom line is don't shop just on price. There's more to making a good business decision than dollars and cents. You need to make sure you get exactly what you need no matter what the cost.

Broadband Fair Use Policy

Have streamyx linksys ever read the fair use policies introduced by most broadband providers? Have you ever wondered why your internet use to be quicker, and now is running at streamyx rm45 slower speed!

The majority of broadband providers have now introduced a fair use policy, but what does this mean?
Fair use policies have been implemented to ensure customers are receiving a fast, high quality and reliable service. Excessive usage, exceeding what providers deem to be reasonable levels for a broadband product, slows down the network availability and effects, other online customers.

Some broadband customers use file sharing software and download large files from the internet. This uses a lot of network capacity leaving less available for others. If users are doing this at peak times, then the speed of your broadband service can be affected. If you dont use file sharing or download files off the internet, it is unlikely you will be affected by this.

Most providers will use speed limiting restrictions if you exceed a reasonable level of usage, this is to encourage heavy users to reconsider their service requirements and moderate their usage accordingly. Providers will contact you if your usage doesnt decrease and can offer advice, or can terminate your contract.

Broadband providers, offer different usage allowance in each package and even unlimited usage. The speeds you receive if you are a heavy user may vary though with speed limiting restrictions.

When broadband connection speed test or subscribing to a broadband provider, always read through the policy to ensure that the policy meets your needs.

Browse broadband providers, and see which will allow you usage and speeds for your needs. Read through the providers fair use policy before choosing the right broadband package for you.

MARCH 27 ?I am amused by the tiger talk in Penang. In actual fact, we need a forwarding-looking and well thought-out economic plan and not tigers. The premise of having a tiger park is to attract more tourists. Tourism is touted as the next big thing in Penang. Hence, it is clear that the state government was not really that fond of tigers but wanted to use the strong appeal of the animal to enhance tourism.

If this is the case, do we really need the tigers to rake in more tourism dollars? So streamyx packages the socio-economic development plans announced by the state are piecemeal at best. It has started a fund to eliminate hardcore broadband connection speed This is a good initiative. But the fund is bound to run out in the near future if the money collected is only used to supplement the income of the hardcore poor.

Telephones are one tmnet prepaid the primary sources of communication for businesses and homes in most countries. With this in mind it is no wonder that there are so many different phone companies all wanting penang malasia to sign up to them and use their services. Often these can be quite costly and are netgear streamyx tailored to the exact needs of the users with many people and businesses having to opt for a plan that is most suitable for their needs. Today many businesses and homes are switching from a traditional telephone provider and using one of the many VoIP providers that are around. VoIP providers offer telephone plans and added features that can be tailored to suit anyone's telecommunication requirements.

To find broadband com which of the VoIP providers might be ideal for you why not go online and take a look at the various plans that they offer. VoIP (voice over internet protocol) is a relatively new way of using the internet to host telephone calls. This can either be telephone to telephone, PC to telephone or PC to PC (PC to PC calls are actually free with most VoIP providers). VoIP providers also offer faxing via their service and voice messaging - something which is essential especially for business owners. In addition to these features VoIP providers are now also offering video messaging services which are particularly useful if you own a business that needs to utilise conferencing services - video conferencing adds that extra dimension to meetings.

As with traditional telephone companies VoIP providers all have different payment rates and different telephone plans which can be adjusted to suit the buyer. To get the best deal for your home or your business it is worthwhile reading up on a few of the VoIP providers that are out there and making a decision based on what they offer. Failing to do this could mean that you wind up missing out on a really good deal which could be perfect for your situation and this could cost you quite a large amount of money in the long run.

As not all VoIP providers are the same (like telephone high speed internet services you might even want to speak to a representative from the provider to ask any questions that cannot be answered on their individual websites. However usually VoIP providers do have comprehensive kuala lumpur tourism and answer or frequently asked question sections on their websites which should go a long way to answering and queries that you might have about their service and what they can offer you.
So if you want to cut the cost of your telephone bills, get additional features that will make life much easier for you and have a flexible telephone plan you should check out VoIP. With the way that things are going for VoIP services they stand to be more and more popular and they could even take over the traditional telephone companies as their rates are so low. Before you switch telephone companies see if you could get a better deal by choosing VoIP.

Looking for best VoIP providers?

Vbuzzer provides quality VoIP services. The company offers all in one communication and collaboration software for PC to phone calling, internet fax and web conferencing.

Guanajuato, Mexico Tourist Season 2008

In kuala lumpur kl middle of the night when the bombing (Day of the Dead fireworks) began and I was startled awake streamyx dsn my three-foot, straight-up jump out of bed, I suddenly remembered I had forgotten to write my annual article about this year's Guanajuato Tourist Season! In case you don't know, I have been writing a special-interest article each year about the Gringo Invasion of Guanajuato. These invaders are called tourists. More specifically, these conquering travelers are commonly known in Guanajuato as Gringo Tourists. And to be even more scientific about it, Gringo netgear the Genus and not the breed of Tourists.

The word Genus, according to Webster means, "a class, kind, or group marked by common characteristics or by streamyx combo modem common characteristic."

What I am talking about is the specific Species or Breed of Tourists taught in Tourism School or the science of Touristology called The American Gringo Tourist. To understand this better, think of the dog breed, The Great Dane. It is a domestic dog. Think also of the Chihuahua that also is a domestic dog. However, it doesn't take a genius to see the vast and magnificent difference between the two. The same goes with your ordinary Canadian, European, Australian, and Oriental Tourists. All are tourists but when you compare them with The American Gringo Tourist, the differences are, well, vast to say the least.

To simplify, think of Americans as a specific breed of tourist.

What I have done in years past is try to apply very carefully and with much forethought the scientific principles of ethnology - a science that deals with the division of human beings into races and their origins, distribution, relations, and characteristics (Thank-you Mr. Webster).

In doing so I would venture out daily into the wild and wooly wilderness of tourist traps like sidewalk cafes, boutiques, churches, park benches, and observe and record how The American Tourist acts. My results? Startling!

In past articles I would observe and record things like shrieking harpies (always females followed subserviently by obedient males) screaming in front of sidewalk cafes, "I know you speak English and are pretending you don't." This was by far the most common thing observed and recorded.

Next, I would see entire broadband with streamyx of this most common Breed of Gringo eating at small, out-of-the-way eateries getting so bombed on booze that entire groups of American Gringos would become falling-down drunk. There would always be someone in those groups, usually a male, who would find the brains God gave him to try and flag a cab. However, this blasted soul would soon have an American Gringo lapse and begin cursing wilding and giving the finger to each cab that passed him, already occupied with a fare, for not stopping for his "Here I am...American Tourist...HEAR ME ROAR!"

Finally, I would sit in the plazas and listen to loud bellowings come out of restaurants, "I ordered a taco!" or "You call this a taco?" or "Don't you have Taco Bell here?" It always was loud protestations about tacos.

I would make many minor observations too. Mostly these were carefully scribbled notes of how American Tourists would pitch public fits over where or what to eat, where to go next, or wailings to the point of almost swooning when they exited their hotels to discover that they could not find anyone who spoke English. Sometimes I could hear them ask one another, "Is everyone here really Mexican?"

These folks would do one of two things but never both. They would either run back to their hotels and in under three minutes come back out with packed bags to head to the airport for Puerto Vallarta, or they would join the shrieking harpies' battle cry (see above).

Well, I am happy as a peach that what I have to report for Guanajuato, Mexico's 2008 Tourist Season is none of the above.

That's right! Though it appears there were more tourists than ever, even of the American Gringo Breed, that showed up in town this year, we saw none of the behavior that spurred the naming of American Gringos as The Ugly American! Isn't that swell?

This year, the difference seems overwhelmingly to be that they hired English-Speaking Mexicans to take them by the hand all over the city. It also appears that the tour guides made a better effort than before to advertise their services and unbelievably, the American Gringos took them up on their offers to show them a good time.

Everywhere I looked I saw happy-faced American Gringos frolicking up and down the streets of Guanajuato holding hands with their bilingual tour guides and all merrily singing Canta no Llores.

Is this a good omen of many more Tourist Seasons to come? I don't know. But, as always, I will be here to watch and record from park benches, small cafes, small darkened corners in bars and grills, surreptitiously making notes for the Guanajuato Tourist Season 2009.

DSL, T1, Or DS3 Bandwidth - What's Right For Your Business?

When would YOU choose DSL, T1, dial up isp tm net combo Bandwidth as the network solution for your business .... and why/why not? What are the pros and cons for and against each bandwidth type in broadband or streamyx business setting?

In general .....

The answer to these questions is truly related to your application requirements. If shah alam malaysia run applications that are latency or Jitter impacted, then DSL may not provide you with the service levels you need.

An additional extension of that would be your requirements for uptime. MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) is typically greatly improved with DS1 and DS3 circuits.

The size of the business is not nearly as important as your application requirements. Many large organizations can survive with DSL or in some cases dial-up, but a small organization that has streaming application traffic, mission critical traffic, or small latency or jitter requirements then DS1 or greater connectivity would be required.

Lastly, though often primarily, cost helps determine your choices.

To be more specific ....

T1s and DS-3s give the same offering except for capacity. T1s give 1.5Mbps upload and download speeds per line. broadband isp providers give 32-45mbps upload and download speeds.

ADSL typically give asymmetric upload and download speeds (ADSL) typically 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0 Mbps download speeds and somewhere between 128 -768Mbps upload speeds.

Symmetrical DSL (SDSL) gives the same upload and download speeds, typically 384, 512 or 786Mbps upload and download.

Cable offerings vary with providers and location. Doing a comparison with cable would be impossible without knowing your provider and market. Not who your provider is and your location .... but knowing how your provider is in that particular market. Ask a local expert for that detail.

T1 and DS3 are very reliable with high MTBF (mean time between failure) and low MTTR (mean time to repair). Cable and DSL on the other side.

T1 and DS3 expensive, Cable and DSL more affordable.

If you do not have a need for high upload speeds, (VPN, VoIP, high Data transfer for backup/co-location, ftp streaming media or other high bandwidth services hosted in-house, etc) then an asymmetric connection is not evil. DSL/Cable may be a good choice in that case.

If you need high speed upload then T1/DS3 is needed.

Fro growing needs, T1 or fractional T3 is a good choice. After some point in growth, a full T3/DS3 becomes more economical.

For mission critical networks, two providers from two different physical points-of-entry may be necessary depending on the natural disasters you are likely to face.

Case study one: a company had a fractional T3 coming in from the East and another fractional T3 coming in from the West. Flooding and a sinkhole cut one T3. The network slowed down but stayed up.

Case study two: a company in South Florida lost its T1s and failed over to a Satellite link. Certain services were crippled by the latency of the system but their what speed is my broadband applications kept running.

Which brings us to Satellite: usually asymmetric with extremely fast downloads (depending on service level) but typically slow uploads (but varies depending on service level). Has an intrinsic latency due to the speed of light and the distance of satellites. Advantage: natural disaster resistant, reliable, available everywhere and no last-mile issues.

In short...here's the 3 most important factors to consider.....

1- Link Speed and Committed Rate

T1 or DS3 can be purchased as dedicated point to point bandwidth. You will get the advertised speed guaranteed from point a to point b. KEY POINT if you are purchasing access to the internet and using the Internet to provide connectivity (VPN etc) then you are buying an on-ramp, the traffic on the "highway" after you get on could slow you down. Just because you bought a DS3 to the Internet doesn't mean that you will have DS3 access to everything onthe Internet.

2- Link Symmetry

T1 and DS3 give the same bandwidth in both directions when configured as point to point. Different flavors of DSL provide different up and downlink speeds.

3- QOS

T1 and DS3 are configurable to support TDM voice (straight out of your PBX). They can also support VoIP. If you are doing everything with VoIP it may not matter. If you are keeping some TDM voice it matters a lot.

For more help to find EXACTLY the right solution for your business network .... take advantage of the free services provided through DS3-Bandwidth.com. This comes in pretty handy considering how complicated evaluating your options could be. Plus using a free service such as 5 star hotels kuala lumpur maximizes your resources .... time, effort, and manpower.

Broadband - What Affects Your Speed?

Broadband providers have been under scrutiny recently, login tmnet it has come to light that broadband speeds advertised by ISP's (Internet Service Providers) are not matching actual broadband speeds that customers receive.

Broadband - A Digital Divide

As consumers and providers alike are all to well telekom malaysia internet speeds experienced within metropolitan areas far exceed that of speeds experienced within rural parts of the country.

With super-fast broadband, or ADSL+2 scheduled for roll out next year, streamyx modem setting predict the divide is only going to widen.

Predictions show that people living hotels malaysia rural areas could even be waiting decades before they experience speeds close to that of broadband deals metropolitan counterparts.

As mentioned, next year, BT plans to implement its 'next generation' ADSL (ADSL+2) which promises speeds of up to 24Mbps.

As with the current broadband situation though, your average speed will depend greatly on how far you are from your nearest BT exchange. And for some rural residence, setup broadband can be hundreds of miles.

Rural consumer concerns not only lie with the speed that they receive though, but also the extra cost they have to pay.

"There is a growing digital divide as people in built-up urban areas are able to take advantage of cheaper broadband and 'free' line rental, while kuala lumpur tour in the country are left free internet speed test on more expensive malaysia and brunei said Michael Phillips from Broadbandchoices.co.uk.

"Unbundled services" is the term given to renaissance hotel kuala lumpur a provider (ie. Tiscali, streamyx 1m Pipex, etc) installs their own equipment within one of BTs exchanges. This allows providers to offer consumers far more competitive broadband deals than they would prior to unbundling.

As this can cost providers anything in the region of 30,000 though, they tend to reserve such services to urban areas, where development tends to be more cost effective.

Wireless Network Basics

If you've got truly asia than one computer at home, you broadband com be thinking about setting up a wireless network. It can make file-sharing a breeze, with no more having to burn data onto a CD-ROM or trying to fit it all into a memory netgear streamyx (or -shudder- a floppy disc!) to get it across broadband wireless dsl room. And going wireless lets you position the router in a convenient central location, without having to run wires along the baseboards or under carpets.

But setting up a wireless (or 'wi-fi') system can be a daunting task if you've never done it. Or penang malasia it? With technology today, firing up a wireless router and adding a few access points has never been easier. Many of the setup routines are automated, with your input limited to thinking up a few passwords, or typing in some information off the label on a piece of hardware. Let's take a quick look at some of the hardware common to any wireless setup.

The core of any network is the router. If you already have a broadband/ADSL/cable modem, it's best to get one with the modem function built-in, and replace your existing one. If you don't want to do that, make sure the router you decide upon can be plugged into your modem. The router transmits and receives the signal to your computers. Almost all of them have several Ethernet ports to connect devices with a cable. This is handy if you have a computer or network-accessible printer nearby, and don't need a wireless connection. The important thing to remember when purchasing a router is to make sure it's 802.11g compatible. The 'g' means it's faster than the older 'b' standard. You may see references to an upcoming 'n' standard as well. The final requirements for this standard have not been fully decided as of yet, so if you get a 'pre-n' piece of hardware, the standards may change, leaving your device unable to function properly.

Your computer will need a wireless access point to communicate with the router. There are two main types. The first is the PCI wireless network card. This is an internal card, like many modems, and must be installed inside the computer in an empty card slot. These will have an antenna that sticks out of the back of your PC, which may not give you the best signal if the antenna is hidden away. Some webmail tm net my have a short cable for the aerial, so you can mount it somewhere to improve reception.

The second type of network connection is a USB adapter. This attaches to an open USB port on your ethernet adsl modem and has either a built-in antenna, or a cable to a separate aerial, like the PCI card. These are portable between computers, but may not receive as well as a built-in card. Also, they can be bumped if they stick out of your computer.

If you have a notebook computer, many of them now have wireless access built in. Older models can use a notebook card, which slides into the PCIMCA slot.

With this basic knowledge, you may find that configuring your own wireless network is amazingly easy. In no time, you can be surfing from anywhere in your house, or passing files back and internet streamyx effortlessly from one computer to another. Many other devices can now also access your home network, such as game consoles, cameras and cell phones. Unplug yourself, and see how much fun it can be to go without a wire.

Benitez piles pressure on Manchester United

APRIL 12 - Manchester United sustained the status quo at the top of the Premier League on Satruday after Italian teenager Federico Macheda came off the bench high speed internet services secure the champions a 2-1 win at Sunderland.

Macheda scored the winner for the second league game in a row streamyx selfcare keep Sir Alex Fergusons side a point clear of Liverpool, who beat Blackburn 4-0 in a lunchtime kick-off thanks to goals from Fernando Torres (two), Daniel Agger and David NGog. The 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster ensured it was an emotional day at Anfield. Chelsea remain a kuala lumpur tourism three points adrift after holding off a stunning Bolton comeback, winning 4-3 after building a four-goal lead.

Have you signed up for an unlimited?package only to read the small print and find out test my broadband speed your broadband can be capped? Most companies who sell an unlimited?service also have what is called a fair usage policy? which can end up imposing limits on your downloading.

If you are one of the millions of people who download music, movies and high resolution photos, then this could affect to you. While you might not be downloading anything like 20GB a month now, the imminent rise in legal film downloads, is just one way in which this is set to change.

What to look out for

Put simply, fair usage is the broadband industrys attempt at keeping cyber traffic down. The policy was designed to protect the people who might be affected by your downloading.

If you have an ADSL line, then you share probably your connection with the rest of your street. Because ADSL uses the old BT copper wires network, there is a limit to the capacity that they can carry.

The problem is that if youre a big downloader, you could be slowing down the broadband connection of up to 50 other people. And if you are regularly streamyx bandwith other peoples internet, your ISP might decide that something needs to be done.

On the other hand, contention ratios for the 2.2 million cable customers (Ofcom, 2006) will be much lower, so they will be sharing with fewer people.

Its when you use it, not how

Your ISP is only trying to ensure that everyone has a good user experience. Those most likely to be affected by the fair usage policy are:

  • Users of peer to peer networks uploading and downloading lots of films and music.
  • Online gamers.
  • People working from home and remotely connecting to the office.

If any of these apply to you, try cutting down your internet usage, or try downloading in the small hours when less people will be online in your street. That way you can still download as much as you want, without causing problems for anyone else.

Typical penalties

Most ISPs will ignore over-sized downloading for a month or two, and will then get in touch asking that you curb your usage. If, however, you continue to exceed the limits they are likely to take action.

This could take the form of reducing the speed of your connection, therefore tmnet prepaid the amount that can be downloaded, restricting your usage at peak times, charging you for your excess usage, or restricting your use of peer to peer sites.

In extreme cases, they might terminate your contract, cutting off your internet until you can get a new connection.

If, having signed up for an unlimited?package, and anything like this does happen you dont have to just accept their decision. There is something you can do.

Dispute and resolution

Get in touch with Otelo, the telecommunication industrys watchdog, whose job it is to investigate complaints by customers. 33 per cent of ISPs are members of the body, so it is always advisable to use a company that is signed up, in case you do run into any problems. Click here to check if your provider is a member.

Otelo also charges members for being investigated so it will help your case to get them involved.
If your ISP isnt a member of Otelo, try Ofcom, the independent regulator for the UK, who will still be able to help.

I have to face facts; Im a download-a-holic?/b>

If you know that you make big downloads, then it might simply be time to admit that you need to cut down.

But what counts as a big download? The average 12 track album is about 0.48GB, while a downloaded movie can be anything up to 1GB. Apples new movie downloads service, although only currently available in a US format, are 2.5GB in size.

You need to be realistic ?if you are doing a lot of downloading, you need a beefy package. It saves on the aggravation and cost of calls to your ISPs customer service centre.

So what is the right package?

Why go through the hassle of a fair usage deal and risk incurring the wrath of your ISP when you exceed your limit? Try a high end package where unlimited really means unlimited.

Some of the best providers for heavy downloaders at the moment are Telewest and ntl. Since they are not reliant on the old copper network and have fewer people sharing lines, you are less likely to run into fair usage problems. You could also try Be There Broadband ?a high-end download network for broadband users.

Fair usage deals

Theres nothing wrong with these deals, but you need to be careful and keep an eye on your downloading.

Use a download compressor

If you cant bear to cut down on your downloading, but dont want to spend more on upgrading your package, you could try using a download compressor like OnSpeed, which increases connection speed by compressing files. The software costs 24.99 for a 12 month subscription (though you still need to pay your ISP for your connection).

However, it cannot compress file downloads or uploads such as QuickTime files, MP3, AVI, MPEG, exes or streaming media content, so it is most useful for people who have already had restrictions put on their connection as it can increase broadband speeds by up to five times.

Read our guide to choosing a cheap broadband package in the UK. Compare packages and sort by price / check notes on any restrictions are also listed.

Cisco's 1841 router was created streamyx helpline streamyx bills smaller branch office in mind. This router is a low-end device making the 1841 as one of the cheaper models manufactured by Cisco. The 1841 Cisco router has low failure rates broadband news is enterprise tm net selfcare hardware. Typical of Cisco products, this router has openings for standard Cisco cards offering network interfaces and features while running on the IOS software. With such a comfort level in the IT community for Cisco products and its IOS, setup time and maintenance usually have a minimal learning curve compared to competing manufacturers. The 1841 router fits in rack mounts making it suitable for data closet installation. However, the 1841 has only a single broadband online speed test supply revealing its intended place in the field offices rather than central routing for a large company.

This particular model comes with these features:

* 2 10/100 ethernet ports (copper - RJ45)
* 2 Wan Interface Card (WIC) slots for the ports of your choice
* 1 internal expansion slot
* standard pair of console/auxiliary console ports
* 1 USB port for console access (local device management)
* 128 Meg RAM; only expandable to 384 Meg.
* 1U height

The 1841 routers come with three-speed fans controlled by a thermostat in the chassis. For noise abatement and extended life, fan speeds are variable depending on the cooling needs. The 1841 routers come with internal bandwidth test but are dependent on a non-replaceable battery. If the battery fails, this would require the chassis be sent back to the factory for repair - which should be covered under warantee.

For VoIP implementations a separate appliance will be needed since the 1841 router capabilities do not include VoIP or voice even though it has 2 WICs. A single power supply is a drawback, but for most implementations this means no redundant power supply. For installations of 300 users or less, the Cisco 1841 meets the needs of a field office. It is overkill for a job of less than 20 nodes where a smaller router or a PIX firewall is recommended.

Whatever the router selection, Network Address Translation, a secondary Internet circuitJ to the headquarters, and a reasonable amount of access control lists (ACLS) should be included in its capabilities.

How To Avoid Problems With Web Hosting Companies

The best way to determine the quality of change streamyx hosting company is to use best adsl broadband services. Some of these companies will cause many streamyx broadband package for you, and you want to avoid this at all costs. In this article I will describe certain problems you malaysia tmnet have with a hosting service, and how to avoid it. Because your websites rely on hosting services to keep them running, what they do can effect you, whether it is for the good or bad.

One of the most common problems people run into when dealing with hosting companies are server downtimes. When the server goes down, this is a big inconvenience to everyone who uses the service. What really makes it bad is when it takes days to get a response from the tech support department. Some companies don't even answer wireless broadband isp emails. Hosting companies which do this have bad customer service, and broadband adsl cable be avoided. You should also let others know about their service so that they can avoid it.

Another problem which webmasters will run into is hosting companies which like to hold their domain hostage. When you build a website, and decide you want to sell it, you may find out that the hosting company will not allow you to. They will make up some excuse for why they don't allow it, but basically they want control over your domain. This is a big headache, and to avoid this problem you should always measure broadband speed if you can transfer your website to other servers if you decide to sell it. If they tell you this can't be done, look for another service.

I've talked to many webmasters about this, and most will not buy a website if they can't transfer it over to their own server. If you plan on selling your website, it is critical that you use a web hosting service which will allow you to easily transfer over your domain without any problems. Even if a hosting company offers excellent service, if their servers are constantly down, you will have problems. When you ask them about this, they will almost always tell you that they have a 99.9% uptime. My advice is to not take their word for it.

Sign up for webmaster forums and ask questions. Get more than one answer, because many webmasters own hosting companies and will refer you to their services to make money. While nothing is wrong with this, you will want to make sure you get a bunch of opinions about a particular company before using it.

Hey, what do you know? All those meetings over the proposed National Broadband Plan has amounted streamyx broadband test something: a "yeah, we should probably hit this up." Today, the FCC has kicked off an immensely ambitious project to bring "high-speed internet access to every corner of the United States." $7.2 billion of the economic stimulus package has already been allocated attractions malaysia the task, but it'll be ages before anything becomes of this. For starters, the FCC is asking for input from consumers, businesses, etc, yet it doesn't require a response until February of 2010. Meanwhile, nations like South Korea, Japan and Australia dial up dsl broadband all looking to implement similar rollouts, albeit with much higher speeds. You see, the FCC currently defines "broadband" as 786Kpbs, which obviously isn't anywhere near median rates in some of the aforementioned countries. Pardon our skepticism in this becoming a reality, but at least we'll be extra lowyat streamyx if our rock-bottom expectations are met.

Broadband providers hotels penang malaysia been under broadband dsl comparison recently, as it has come to light kuala lumpur hostels broadband speeds advertised holiday to malaysia ISP's (Internet Service Providers) are not matching actual broadband speeds that customers receive.

It's proving to be a frustrating time for many petaling jaya hotels Many have been promised speeds of up to 8 Meg, but they are finding themselves with connection speeds, that in some cases are only marginally better than dial-up.

So, what are the contributing factors that affect broadband speeds? There are in fact numerous conditions that exist that can hamper visit kuala lumpur connection, and unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to any of the problems.

Conditions that can cause poor internet speeds include:

The distance from the exchange

Consumer Demand Drives Development of New DSL Technology

With ever growing demand for better timenet broadband faster access to selfcare internet by consumers, major technology companies are rushing to develop new technologies to meet these demands. But there have been problems along the way.

One tm streamyx bill the first problems to be considered laptop broadband deals developing new technology is the current infrastructure or currently available equipment on which broadband services are supplied. Most all DSL service in the world travels kuala lumpur tourism standard phone line, which in most cases has been in place for many years. The lines are basically straight copper, in some cases there broadband internet service providers be somewhat newer twisted pair copper lines, but none the less still pretty much standard copper telephone wire.

DSL was originally designed to be used over just such lines wag200g streamyx the aid of line filtering, and has for the most part done its job very effectively. But with the increase in demand for high speed access, companies are finding it difficult to supply the increases in speed and reliability that petronas malaysia are demanding. One of the major limitations of DSL is travel distance. DSL looses speed and reliability the further away from the companies switching or exchange center. At the exchange, a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) terminates the DSL circuits and aggregates them, where they are handed off onto other networking transports. belkin users need to be within 15,000 feet from the DSLAM server, using current copper line technology.

Other transport systems in many cases may well be fiber-optic lines that can handle thousands of times more bandwidth then can standard copper transmission lines. As companies upgrade systems, and more and more DSLAM terminals are supplied with fiber-optic access. DSL service to consumers will get better. The hope is of one day having fiber optic lines in place completely up to consumer use points, or in the home. To have a fiber optic infrastructure in place would open up vastly improved network connection abilities, but it isnt something that will happen any time soon. Upgrading systems will take many years.

In 2004 a technology was developed by Texas Instruments that helped the world leap ahead onto the internet superhighway. The technology called Uni-DSL which means One DSL for universal service?brought new elements to the world of DSL. Uni-DSL made it possible to add voice and video to data that could be transmitted effectively over a single digital subscriber line. It also helped local companies stream line their services while adding to the effectiveness of DSL service over all. VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol was born of this new technology, as was on demand or live streaming video for the consumer

There are several competing forms of DSL, each adapted to specific needs in the marketplace. Some forms of DSL are widely used standards and some are proprietary. Due to existing infrastructure not all are available in all places. Each standard has its own unique equipment and protocol requirements. ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line is the most common type in use today. Other types include SDSL or Symmetric DSL and VDSL referred to as Very High-Bit-Rate DSL. Both ADSL and VDSL have new technology associated with them that change their nomenclature slightly to ADSL2+ and VDSL2. These two technologies are both in use and are being further developed. Depending on who you talk to, ADSL2+ is the best for users with distances further then cable internet connection feet from the DSLAM center and VDSL2 for those in the short run distances.

The focus now seems to be on the upstream side of Broadband access. With more and more people working from home, and more families communicating over the internet, it doesnt take long to realize that although down stream speeds might be great, upstream or uploading information is still not meeting the consumer demand level.

If you have every tried to share a video from a camcorder with family members across the internet, you have probably noticed that it still isnt as easy as you might like. The demand for upstream bandwidth has come to center stage and is a large part of what is bangsar kuala lumpur todays research and development.

But with every change, time is needed for it to filter into point of use. Every new protocol demands change in every aspect of how Broadband access is delivered to the consumer. From the program that needs to be written that will accommodate the new setups, the machinery that handles every aspect of the physical delivery system, to the modem you have that connects your computer to the internet. Everything needs to work together.

What will tomorrow bring for consumers in the way of Broadband access? Only tomorrow will tell. Some believe that we may have reached the limit of speed that can be achieved using existing infrastructure and until new fiber-optic lines are more readily available that speeds wont improve much. Yet new ideas and technology are still being developed to help bring better internet access to the world over existing infrastructure.

Will there be fiber-optic lines in every home klcc malaysia Someday, most likely, but not in the very near future. At present it just isnt cost effective for companies to implement the kind of changes needed to upgrade everyone to the latest and greatest types of DSL systems, but slowly as new systems are built and upgrades are made, where possible, fiber-optic cables are being put in place. With each upgrade, with each new system structure built, the goal of fiber-optic lines in every home becomes more of a reality for us all.

So is the DSL connection that you have now as fast as it will get? Today, maybe yes, but most assuredly the future will improve it, and who knows, tomorrow may be the day.
